Spiaggia Lido Levico

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Lido di Levico is a pebble beach located on the south shore of Lake Levico in the Trentino Alto Adige region. The beach is approximately 70 metres long and 40 metres wide, with a total surface area of about 2,500 square metres and negligible slope. The water body is a lake with no appreciable difference in gradient between the emerged and submerged zones. Various pontoons are available for swimmers.

Water

Lake Levico (Lago di Levico). Area: 1.050 km². The lake is part of the Brenta hydrographic basin. The main non-bathing use is boat storage, with boat rental, pedalo, and canoe hire available at the dock area.

Location

Levico Terme, Trentino Alto Adige region, Italy. The bathing establishment is located west of the town of Levico Terme on the south side of Lake Levico, near a public park and camping site. Altitude: 440 metres above sea level.

Facilities

First aid station with necessary equipment. Two separate toilet facilities for men and women with showers. One toilet facility for disabled persons. Two showers on the beach. Bar and fast food restaurant. Slides, diving board, and pontoons. Lifeguards qualified and constantly present. Table football area and two ping-pong tables available. Access to all sports facilities is regulated by signage.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Chemical state of the lake (2010–2012) is Good. Average total phosphorus concentration (2010–2012): 12 µg/l. Nitrate concentrations are well below vulnerability thresholds. No point sources of pollution identified. Lake Levico does not receive discharge from the Levico wastewater treatment plant, which discharges into the Brenta river. No pollution causes detected during short-term pollution events. No anomalous situations in the past 4 years.

Risks

Cyanobacterial bloom events recorded in past 4 years: Microcystis aeruginosa (10 September 2012: 1.1×10⁵ cell/ml; 18 September 2012: 9.2×10⁵ cell/ml; 21 September 2012: 1.1×10⁴ cell/ml). No effects on swimmers detected. Anthropogenic activities identified as pressure source. Annual algal monitoring plan implemented (monthly May to September) with testing for toxic algae and toxicological analysis.
