Stazione FF.SS. is a fine sandy beach of quartz-feldspar and limestone-flint origin in Falconara Marittima, located in the Marche region. The beach has a medium slope of 3% and is protected by artificial breakwaters on both emerged and submerged sections. The distance between medium-low and high water (safe water limit) is 80 meters, with astronomical tidal range of 30–50 centimeters. The surrounding area consists of urban settlements with a railway line passing through.

Classified as Excellent in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. 2015: E. coli 95th percentile 108.4, intestinal enterococci 38.3. 2016: E. coli 95th percentile 132.5, intestinal enterococci 61.0. 2017: E. coli 95th percentile 172.0, intestinal enterococci 49.1. 2018: E. coli 95th percentile 235.0, intestinal enterococci 70.7. Wastewater treatment via biological plant with anaerobic digestion at Vallechiara, serving approximately 70,000 inhabitants and 3,500 population equivalents from industrial activities.

Risks

Overflow discharge from sewers during extreme rainfall events directs mixed waters through outlets along the beach. Seasonal microalgal bloom of non-toxic Fibrocapsa japonica in July and August. Non-stinging jellyfish species Cotylorhiza tubercolata and stinging jellyfish Charybdea present. Discharge from sewage overflow (Fosso Rigatta) passes through API Refinery before reaching sea. Sewage discharge from livestock operations and biogas facilities in Jesi area on Esino River, resulting in precautionary swimming closures at points near the river mouth.
