Hotel Limfjorden is a bathing spot located on the shore of Limfjorden in the southwestern part of Thisted. The beach is approximately 7 meters wide and more than 300 meters long, consisting of sand with many stones. The water is clear and shallow at the edge. The beach is screened by a hilly heathland area with trees and bushes, with a grassy recreational area available.

Water

Sandy beach in Limfjorden with shallow water. Approximately 7 meters wide and more than 300 meters long. Water depth allows walking approximately 130 meters from the waterline before reaching 2 meters depth. Salinity 18-30 psu. Summer water temperature 11-21 degrees Celsius. Local rip currents and fjord currents vary with wind conditions and tides.

Location

Located on Simons Bakke at the edge of Thisted, Denmark. Access via Oddesundvej (Highway 11) entering Thisted, take the first exit at the roundabout onto Åsvej for approximately 0.3 km, then take the third exit at the next roundabout. A sign marking 'Til Stranden' (To the Beach) indicates the parking area. Approximately 140 meters from the parking area to the waterline. Parking available.

Risks

Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) washup on the beach during strong winds and onshore winds, which can create aesthetic problems and odors. Cyanobacteria and general algal blooms are possible in nutrient-rich fjords during warm, calm, sunny weather typically from April to October, though no blooms have been observed in this area.
