Svallerup/Bjerge Nord Strand is a sandy beach approximately 220 meters long and 20 meters wide, located in Kalundborg Municipality, Denmark. The beach features small stones and occasional larger stones, with sporadic macroalgae present. A rescue ring and toilet facilities are available. The beach is backed by grassland with the road running through it, and is surrounded by a summer house area with cultivated fields beyond.

Water

Coastal Baltic Sea beach. The beach is approximately 220 meters long and 20 meters wide. The seabed consists of sand with small stones. The dominant water current direction is eastward.

Location

The beach is located along Svallerup Strandvej in Kalundborg Municipality. A ring-shaped parking area is available in the grassland behind the beach.

Facilities

Rescue ring, toilet facilities.

Season

Monitoring occurs year-round with a minimum of four samples per year. The classification section is reviewed annually in November following the bathing season.

Water Quality

The beach is classified as EXCELLENT based on measurements of intestinal enterococci and E. coli from 2018–2021 according to EU bathing water directive criteria. Monitoring is conducted at least four times per year.

Risks

Holmen Å stream outlet located north of the beach poses a risk due to eastward-flowing currents that direct pollution toward the bathing area. Short-term pollution typically results from heavy rainfall causing drain and stream overflows, lasting up to 3 days after rainfall stops. Risk of cyanobacterial blooms and macroalgae accumulation exists but cannot be predicted with certainty. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution may occasionally occur.
