Svenstrup Strand is a sandy beach located on the open coast of Musholm Bay in Slagelse Municipality, Denmark. The beach is between 25 and 40 meters wide and approximately 170 meters long, bounded landward by coastal cliffs and fronted by dune vegetation. The seabed consists of sand to a depth of approximately 2 meters, with reef formation beginning between 40 and 50 meters from the shore. Water depth is relatively shallow, ranging from 90 to 150 meters to reach 2 meters depth. The beach has been classified as excellent bathing water quality based on data from 2012–2017.

Water

Saltwater beach on the open coast of Musholm Bay. The seabed consists of sand to approximately 2 meters depth, with reef formation at 40–50 meters from shore. Water depth is 90–150 meters to reach 2 meters depth. Tidal range, currents, and weather conditions cause variable depth conditions.

Location

Svenstrup Strand is located in Slagelse Municipality, near the village of Svenstrup approximately 0.5 kilometers south of the beach. Access is by Svenstrup Strandvej to a parking area, from which a path leads to the beach. Parking is available at the beach.

Facilities

Bathing pier, parking area, information signboards, toilet facilities, disabled access, first aid equipment, lifeguard station. Blue Flag beach status.

Water Quality

Bathing water classified as excellent quality based on 2012–2017 data. Monitoring conducted 10 times annually. No connection detected between current direction and increased pollution.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms. Risk of short-term fecal contamination during extreme rainfall events due to septic tanks and infiltration systems in the summer cottage area and some households in Svenstrup village with combined sewers. Risk of seaweed washing ashore. Occasional glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur. Toxic plankton has not been detected in open waters.
