Tinkerup Strand

Tinkerup Strand is a small beach located between Gilleleje Ferieby and Dancenter Gilleleje. The beach is approximately 200 metres long and 20 metres wide. The beach entrance can be steep and slippery following heavy rain or storms. Water quality is monitored during the bathing season with results published online. The beach is situated in Gribskov Municipality.

Water

Saltwater beach with approximately 2% salinity. Water depth reaches 2 metres between 100–180 metres from shore. Sandy bottom with stones in the first few metres from the beach. Breakwaters are located close to the shore. Dominant current direction is easterly, with the potential for strong currents and undertows behind the breakwaters.

Location

Tinkerup Strandvej 32, between Gilleleje Ferieby and Dancenter Gilleleje. Parking is available at Tinkerup Strandvej 32.

Facilities

Toilet, handicap toilet, litter bins, rescue ring available throughout the bathing season, no lifeguard present, no bathing pier, no disabled access facilities, parking available.

Samples are collected during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is based on sample results from the preceding four years. Samples are collected during the bathing season. Station number 247, DKBW number 384. Results are available on www.gribskov.dk/badevand.

Risks

Risk of overflow and short-term water contamination from piped watercourse during heavy rain (lasting up to 2 days after the event). Low risk of cyanobacteria growth in the area, although algae may drift from Øresund. Strong currents possible behind breakwaters. Entry can be steep and slippery after heavy rain or storms.
