Hotel Cruiser is a sandy bathing beach in Pesaro with fine quartz-feldspar and calcareous siliceous sand. The beach has an average gradient of 3% and is protected by artificial emerged breakwaters. The distance from medium-low to high water level (safe water limit) is 80 meters, with astronomical tides ranging from 30 to 50 centimeters. The surrounding area is densely urbanized.

Location

Pesaro, Pesaro Urbino Province, Marche region. The beach is operated as a concession establishment (stabilimento balneare).

Facilities

Staffed beach establishment (stabilimento balneare). Bar concession available. Dogs and other animals are prohibited during bathing season.

Water Quality

Classification E. Located in a densely urbanized area. The Pesaro municipality wastewater network conveys sewage to five treatment plants, with the largest situated at Borgheria near the mouth of the Foglia River, serving the urban nucleus of Pesaro with capacity for approximately 90,000 equivalent inhabitants and discharge of approximately 20,000 cubic meters per day using biological treatment. All 24 annual control tests for Table 1 parameters and 6 annual control tests for Table 3 parameters of Legislative Decree 152/2006 over the last 4 years conformed to legal limits. Some mixed urban wastewater collectors not connected to Borgheria treatment plant with disinfection stations discharge into the Foglia River and Genica stream; some have been partially remediated following connection to new black sewerage with discharge to Borgheria treatment plant.

Risks

Cyanophyceae bloom of the species Oscillatoria curviceps was recorded in 2009, producing filamentous aggregates similar to mucilages.
