Ulstrup Sønder Strand is a sandy beach approximately 280 metres long and 5 metres wide, with small stones, larger stones scattered throughout, and sparse vegetation. A long bathing pier is the primary swimming location. The seabed is mainly sand with some stones and seaweed. A rescue ring is positioned at the water's edge.

Water

A coastal bathing water body with a sandy seabed containing some stones and seaweed. The beach is approximately 280 metres long and 5 metres wide. Current predominantly flows northward, though also toward the west and east.

Location

The beach is accessed via Ulstrup Sønderstrand, which terminates at a large car park approximately 50 metres from the bathing pier. A toilet and information board are located at the car park. The beach is situated west of a private boat beach, with uncultivated grassland extending to the car park, a summer house area to the west, and cultivated fields and the town of Ulstrup further inland.

Season

Monitoring period: year-round, with classification section reviewed annually in November after the bathing season ends.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent. Based on measurements of intestinal enterococci and E. coli from 2018–2021. Monitoring is conducted a minimum of four times per year.

Risks

Short-term pollution typically occurs after heavy rainfall, causing overflow at the treatment plant and in watercourses, lasting up to three days after rainfall ceases. The private watercourse outlet on the western property presents a risk due to the northward dominant current. Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms and large accumulations of seaweed (macroalgae) at the water's edge may occur unpredictably. Glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution may occasionally occur.
