A sandy beach in Mondolfo with fine quartz feldspar and calcareous siliceous sand, sloping at an average gradient of 3%. The beach is protected by artificial emergent reefs. The surrounding zone is characterized by urban settlements with a railway line passing through it.

Adriatic Sea. Average water level distance from beach: 80 metres. Astronomical tide range: 30–50 centimetres. Average beach width: 16 metres. Beach area: 0.30028 hectares.

Location

Mondolfo, Pesaro Urbino Province, Marche Region. The beach is located at Viale Colombo n. 45. Tourism office (Villa Valentina) is at Viale Carducci n° 85, Marotta di Mondolfo, telephone 0721/960665.

Facilities

First aid and lifeguard services, toilets, accessible ramps for disabled persons, facilities for disabled users in bathhouses, beach kiosk, tourism office, coast guard office, sidewalk, cycling path.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E (poor). Wastewater treatment in Mondolfo uses separate sewage collectors conveying 2,500–3,000 cubic metres of wastewater to the Marotta treatment plant at the Cesano river mouth. Part of the inland area discharges directly into natural ditches without treatment. A new general valley collector system is under construction to redirect all untreated discharges to the treatment plant. Over the last 4 years, 12 tests of table 1 parameters and 3 tests of table 3 parameters from all quality controls at the Marotta plant were compliant with legal limits.

Risks

Non-toxic microalgae blooms recorded: Chaetoceros socialis in 2008 and Fibrocapsa japonica in 2009, causing anomalous discoloration of seawater.
